Our 2020 virtual National Gun Violence Prevention Conference is now available for online viewing

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, in lieu of an in person annual fall dinner this year, we hosted our first annual “virtual” fall conference via Zoom on Sunday, November 15. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Michael North of Scotland. Dr. North lost his five year old daughter, Sophie, in the mass shooting at the Dunblane Primary School in Scotland in 1996. Americans Against Gun Violence Second Annual Fall Dinner, Saturday, November 10, in Sacramento, California

Americans Against Gun Violence is holding its Second Annual Fall Dinner on the evening of Saturday, November 10. The dinner will be held in conjunction with the Sacramento Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility again this year at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 2001 Point West Way, in Sacramento. Americans Against Gun Violence Announces the Opening of Our 2018 National High School Essay Contest

The Americans Against Gun Violence 2018 National High School Essay Contest is now open to all high school students in the United States and its territories. A total of $15,000 will be awarded to the 12 contest winners. The prompt for the contest is the following quotation from the late Senator Thomas Dodd of Connecticut, who said in a speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate on June 11, 1968: “The time has now come that we must adopt stringent gun control legislation comparable to the legislation in force in virtually every civilized country in the world.” The deadline for students to enter the contest is 11:59 PM on Sunday, May 6.
